Locals try homemade cider and crafts for Valentine’s Day – Chico Enterprise-Record

Lassen Traditional Cider House and Turkey Tail Farms hosted “Love You to the Core”, a sip and shop event on Sunday in Chico where visitors enjoyed a day of fun with music, handmade ciders, arts and crafts.

The cider house, adorned with pink and red Valentine’s Day decorations, hosted a space for small artisans and artists while serving their own handmade drinks.

Craft event organizer Becca Chavez partnered with Turkey Tail Farms Own Sammie Zangrilli to create the event featuring 20 vendors selling bath and body products, homewares and handmade clothing. hand.

“All local and handmade,” Zangrilli said. “We try to be inclusive and make this market accessible to everyone.”

The event included a tarot card reader, massage chairs, a Valentine’s Day craft table, and different ciders to sample.

Ben Nielsen, the owner of Lassen Traditional Cidery, served 3 traditional dry ciders, pear cider, elderberry cider and pommeau; a traditional French drink with wine and apple juice.

“I focus on the terroir. So like where do apples come from and you have different types of varieties,” Nielsen said. “I like to put the apples front and center.”

Zangrilli said he was surprised to see people come out, especially during the Super Bowl on Sunday, and was happy with the turnout.

“It’s great to see a lot of people I know and to see new faces,” Nielsen said.

Chavez and Zangrilli said they hope to hold their next event next month. Chavez has been hosting craft events for two years and future events can be found on instagram @norcal.makers.marketplace.
