Julian Lage Shares New Song/Live Performance Video; new album ft. Bill Frisell will be released in September.

guitar virtuoso Julien Lage shared “Word For Word”, available now to stream or download. An official live performance video featuring the formidable trio of Lage, bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer Dave King is featured today on YouTube. “Word For Word” marks the final single from Lage’s upcoming new album, View With One Bedroomarriving via Blue Note Records on Friday, September 16. Vinyl, CD and digital pre-orders are available now.

A superb collection of 10 compelling original compositions that sees Lage expand the orchestral possibilities of his core trio with the participation of six-string icon Bill Frisell, View With A Room also includes the recently released debut single, “Auditorium”, available now to stream or Download. Hailed by Guitar World as “a doozy”, the track is joined by an official live performance video from the trio streaming now on YouTube.

Lage will mark the arrival of View With One Bedroom with a packed international live schedule, including a week-long stand at New York’s famed Village Vanguard (July 26-31), to be followed this fall by the “View With A Room In Concert” US tour, kicking off September 13 in Pittsburgh, PA’s Oaks Theater, then traveling through mid-December. View With A Room sees Lage fulfill a longstanding goal of “having lush orchestration combined with an organic sense of improvisation and the agility of a small ensemble” by adjoining his core trio of Roeder and King with legendary guitarist Bill Frisell. Having already collaborated in several different contexts, including duo concerts and projects imagined by John Zorn, the two musicians have refined a shorthand musical vocabulary rich in references – covering The Beach Boys, the American and European quartets of Keith Jarrett and All Things Must by George Harrison. Pass – to create a subtle, eloquent weave that expertly manifests Lage’s enhanced vision in an atmospheric and incisive way throughout the new collection.

“There’s no one I would trust more than Bill Frisell to step into our trio ecosystem and be able to expand it while embracing it totally,” Lage says. “It became a great collaboration that resulted in the Technicolor experience I was looking for.”

Produced by Lage’s wife and musical partner, singer-songwriter Margaret Glaspy, at Brooklyn’s Bridge Studios with engineer Mark Goodell, View With A Room marks Lage’s second release through Blue Note Records, following the first acclaimed album of last year, Squint. Lage’s longtime friend and collaborator, Armand Hirsch, added built-in post-production elements that emphasize the emotional intent of each song.
