Designation ceremony for music-friendly communities
At the launch event, the city of San Marcos will receive the official designation of Music Friendly Community from the Texas Music Office. Community Relations and Outreach Specialist Chip Adams will present the designation at 7 p.m. The nomination ceremony will include remarks by board member Melissa Derrick, Tara Miller of the Rock Bottom String Band and David Beck.
Certification as a music-friendly community follows a multi-month process that included a workshop sponsored by the Texas Music Office, working with local music education programs, and creating an advisory board of local players in the music industry. Participation in the program provides communities across Texas with a network to foster the development and growth of the music industry.
